Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Cell

Establishment of IPR Cell:

Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Cell has been established by Principal of the institute on Friday 7-12-2018 with the objectives to look after the activities related to the Intellectual Property of the Institute, Evaluation and filling of patents, copyrights and design.

Intellectual property (IP) refers to various distinct types of creations of the mind: inventions, literary and artistic works, and symbols, names, images, and designs used in commerce; for which a set of exclusive rights like copyrights, trademarks, patents, industrial design rights and trade secrets are recognized under the corresponding fields of law.

“Intellectual property is a part and parcel of our life. No matter what we do and where we are, we are always surrounded by the fruits of human creativity and inventions which make our life easier”.

Objectives of the IPR Cell:

The main objectives of the IPR Cell are divided into three sections viz. Awareness, Facilitation, Implementation.

  1. Awareness:
    1. To arrange awareness programs such as seminars, workshops and guest lectures on IPR and IPR related topics.
    2. To arrange industrial visits in which encouragement of IPR will be done.
    3. To arrange Expert Panel Discussions in the institute
    4. To encourage creative and innovative research leading to the generation of new knowledge, ideas and inventions.
    5. To keep practical approach through case study oriented teaching
    6. To train faculty members, staff and students about provisional patent filing procedures in India.
    7. To encourage students as well as faculty members to attend the above mentioned IPR awareness programs.
  2. Facilitation:
    1. IPR Cell has been established wherein dedicated IPR cell members will support the IPR activities and will motivate the students and faculties for IPR work.
    2. Arrangement of numerous activities under IPR cell
    3. To provide faculty members, staff and students of GCOERC assistance in assessing the patentability and commercial potential of their inventions.
    4. Provision of facilities like space, computers, internet and other things for the IPR related work to students and faculties.
  3. Implementation:
    1. Entrepreneurship development programs
    2. Brainstorming, group discussions on IPR
    3. Model based project completion
