The National Service Scheme (NSS) is an Indian government-sponsored public service program conducted by the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports of the Government of India. Popularly known as NSS, the scheme was launched in Gandhi Ji’s Centenary year, 1969. Aimed at developing student’s personality through community service, NSS is a voluntary association of young people in Colleges.

The main objectives of National Service Scheme (NSS) are :

  1. Understand the community in which they work.
  2. Understand themselves in relation to their community.
  3. Identify the needs and problems of the community and involve them in problem-solving.
  4. Develop among themselves a sense of social and civic responsibility.
  5. Utilise their knowledge in finding practical solutions to individual and community problems.
  6. Develop competence required for group-living and sharing of responsibilities.
  7. Gain skills in mobilising community participation.
  8. Acquire leadership qualities and democratic attitudes.
  9. Develop capacity to meet emergencies and natural disasters and
  10. Practise national integration and social harmony.

2 COVID-19 Awareness  22th July 2020 All NSS volunteers have actively participated in videos & posters making on awareness of COVID-19.
3 Online Mass Pledge 04th August 2020 All NSS volunteers have taken online mass pledge against COVID-19 safety precautions And have submitted it to SPPU/ NSS web portal.  
4 Training program  19th August 2020  All NSS volunteers have attended online Unicef Training program on COVID-19 warriors.
5 Training program  20th September 2020 All NSS volunteers have attended iGot online training program on COVID-19 warriors. 
6 Quiz Competition. 28th September 2020 All NSS volunteers have attended SPPU COVID –19 Quiz Competition.
7 Quiz Competition. 15th October 2020 All NSS volunteers have attended GCOERC COVID-19 Quiz Competition.  
8 Blood Donation  20th October 2020 Two NSS volunteers have donated blood during COVID-19 situation.
9 Masks Donation 12th November 2020 Five NSS Volunteers have donated Masks to poor people. Total masks distribution – 50 no.
10 Police Friend & Field work 16th December 2020 Three NSS Volunteers have worked as a police friend & field work for Sanitization.

Activities(2019-20)

1 Tree Plantation 2019-20 14th July 2019 As a part of Tree plantation activity, The NSS voluteers, Civil, Mech. & Electrical engg. Students have actively participated in the programme & total 200 trees have planted at Kashypi Dam Nashik. The main goal of the whole day activity is to plant trees & increase awareness in students about importance of trees in our life. 
2 Swachhta Pakhwada 2019-20 23rd September 2019 Inauguration of Swachhata Pakhwada & Talk by Principal on Cleanliness and Sanitization. Cleanliness Activity at college canteen.Cleanliness Activity at college entrance.Cleanliness Activity at Guru Gurudwara. Awareness rallies on swachhata, save water, save trees, road safety,  save & educate girls at surrounding of college campus .
3 Regular Activities 2019-20 Date-wise Organized Jal Shakti Programe.Taking Mass Pledge on Swachhata & Tobacco Free Youth.Celebration of Fit India Programe.Organised Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign.Taking Mass Pledge on to avoid use of plastic in your daily routine life.   
4 7 day NSS Special Camp 2019-20  6th Jan. To 12th Jan. 2020  7 Days NSS Special Camp were conducted at Pimpalgaon Khamb Village, District- Nashik. 25 NSS Volunteers were participated in this camp. Doing activities in camp – Prabhat Pheri on water conservation(Save water),Save trees, Road safety, Swachhata, Blood donate. Swachata Abhiyan – students had cleaned campus of New English School, Hanuman Mandir, Green Jim, Shiv Mandir, School class rooms of Pimpalgaon Khamb, Rally on Save girls & educate girls. Mass Pledge on Swachhata by Students of New English School of Pimpalgaon khamb. Students had performed Social Awareness Skits. Speech by our college vice-principal Dr. S.D. Kalpande & Civil Deptt. 2 Swachhta Pakhwada 2018-19 1st to 15th August 2018 Inauguration of Swachhata Pakhwada & Talk by Principal on Cleanliness and Sanitization. Mass Pledge by Students and Employee on swachhata. Essay & Drawing Contest on Swachhata. Cleanliness Activities in & outside the college campus.Pouring water to college garden trees. Awareness rallies on swachhata, save water, save trees, save & educate girls .
3 Regular Activities 2018-19 Conducted as per date NSS Unit organised Medical Check-Up CAMP, Celebrated Savitribai Phule Jayanti & Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Jayanti. Organised to make Sadu-Mati Ganpati.
4 7 days NSS Special  Camp 2018-19 16th Jan. To 22nd Jan. 2019 7 Days NSS Special Camp were conducted at Sawargaon Village, District-Nashik.   25 NSS Volunteers were participated in this camp. Doing activity in camp – Students had levelled the Sawargaon school ground (Shramdan). Prabhat Pheri on Save Water, Save Trees, Road Safety, Save Girls & Educate Girls. Students had cleaned the Hanuman Mandir, Samaj Mandir, Bhavani Mandir & primary school of Sawargaon.

Doing activity in camp-Rally on water conservation(Save water). Swachata Abhiyan- Students had cleaned main road of village, cleaned vegetable market  & cleaned campus of Janta Vidyalay Lahavit. Rally on Save girls & educate girls. Mass Pledge on Swachhata by Students of Janta Vidyalay of Lahavit. Group Discussion on contributions to be made by engineers in rural development. Students had taken Hand-writing, Drawing, Dance, Limbu-Chamcha, singing, competitions for Janta Vidyalaya students. Prize Distribution of competitions etc.
2 Swachhta Pakhwada 2017 1st to 15th September 2017 Inauguration of Program & Talk by Principal & Head of Institute on Importance of Cleanliness and Sanitization.Common Pledge by Students and Employee on Swachata.Essay Competition on cleanliness. Cleanliness Activities in and surrounding of college campus. Cleanliness Activities in and surrounding of hostel building. Cleanest hostel room contest. Cleanliness Activities in and surrounding of hostel mess. Cleanliness Activities at road leading to the institution.Care for the surrounding day (Visit at Public Place) etc.
3 Swachhta Hi Seva (Swachata Abhiyan) 22nd September 2017 Taking mass pledge on swachhta  by Students  in all department class room. Cleanliness Activities in and surrounding of college campus. College management, Principal & all head of department tree plantation is under taken nearby college campus.
4 Tree Plantation Day  6th July 2017 As per the circular of Government of Maharashtra about plantation of 2 crore trees, We Guru Gobind Singh College of Engineering and Research Centre, Nasik is organized Tree Plantation Day program in collaboration with Shree Bharat Co-Op Group Housing Society Ltd, Nasik on dated 6th July 2017. We have planted various types of trees in college campus & nearby college campus some of them being Gulmohar, Nilmohar, Chafa, Raktchandan, Mango, Shankasur etc. For tree plantation College Management members, CEO, Principal, all head of institute, total 120 students from all department & 50 NSS volunteers along with 21 gents staff & 9 ladies staff members have actively participated.
5 7 day NSS Special Camp 2016-17 20th Dec. To 26th Dec. 2016 7 Days NSS Special Camp were conducted at Lahavit Village, District-Nashik.   25 NSS Volunteers were participated in this camp. Doing activity in camp – Rally on Save trees. Swachata Abhiyan- Students had cleaned Gram-Panchayet Surrounding area, Students had collected plastics from main road of village, Students had cleaned the staying school campus. Students had taken quiz competitions for Janta Vidyalaya students. Prize Distribution of quiz competitions. Students had performing drama for explaining the concepts why education is important for girls. Group Discussion on What NSS, Why NSS, Not for me but for you etc.
6 Organ Donation Rally 2016  20 Sep. 2016  Rally on organ donation at surrounding of college campus.
7 Swachhta Pakhwada 2016 1st to 15th September 2016 Inauguration of Program & shares some thoughts by Principal & Head of Institute about the cleanliness and sanitation and also instructed the student to follow the instruction to maintain good health. Sensitization program for students and staff. Essay Competition on cleanliness. Painting Competition on cleanliness. Common Pledge by Students and Employee.

We have planted various types of trees in college campus & nearby college campus some of them being Gulmohar, Nilmohar, Chafa, Raktchandan, Mango, Shankasur etc.For tree plantation all College Management members, CEO, Principal, all head of institute, total 190 students from all department & 50 NSS volunteers along with 27 gents & 15 ladies staff members have actively participated.
